Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 15, 2026

This policy describes how OrbitX Studio handles information when you use Watchly on Apple platforms and at watchly.orbitx.studio.

Introduction

OrbitX Studio ("OrbitX," "we," "us," or "our") operates Watchly — a personal media hub available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Vision, and at https://watchly.orbitx.studio (collectively, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you. It applies whenever you use Watchly apps, sign in on our website, activate Apple TV, or otherwise interact with our Service.

By creating an account or using Watchly, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Summary

  • Watchly does not upload or host your video files on our servers.
  • We sync account metadata — such as watchlists, liked titles, watch progress, and preferences — so your library experience stays consistent across devices.
  • You connect your own media sources (local files, Plex, Jellyfin, cloud drives, network shares). Those sources remain under your control.
  • We use first-party analytics to improve Watchly (for example, subscription and feature usage). We do not sell your personal information.
  • You can delete your account in the app or by contacting us. PRO subscribers manage billing through Apple.

Information We Collect

Account information

  • Email address and authentication identifiers when you sign in with email, Apple, or Google.
  • Display name, profile avatar preference, and optional profile image you choose to upload.
  • Account creation date and sign-in activity needed to keep your session secure.

Library and usage data

  • Watchlist, liked items, seen history, and watch progress (including playback position and completion status).
  • TMDB identifiers, titles, poster URLs, release years, and media types used to display your library.
  • Search queries, filters, and in-app preferences you save to your account.
  • Connected source configuration metadata (for example, which Plex server or cloud drive is linked), not the media files themselves.

Device and technical data

  • Device type, operating system, app version, and platform (iOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, or web).
  • Apple TV activation codes and linked-device records so you can pair and manage devices.
  • IP address, timestamps, and diagnostic logs needed for authentication, sync, fraud prevention, and support.
  • A first-party device identifier and anonymous session identifier used to understand product usage before and after sign-in.

Subscription and billing data

  • Subscription status, product identifiers, trial eligibility, and transaction references received from Apple.
  • We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Apple processes all payments.

Connected service credentials

  • When you link Plex, Jellyfin, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, or similar services, Watchly stores the credentials or tokens required to access those services on your behalf.
  • Credentials are encrypted in transit and at rest and are deleted when you disconnect a source or delete your account.
  • On Apple TV, linked credentials may be relayed from another signed-in device you authorize so playback can work without re-authenticating on every platform.

Local network features

  • When you use Nearby, casting, library sharing, or Wi‑Fi file upload, Watchly communicates with devices on your local network.
  • These interactions stay on your network unless you explicitly use a cloud-connected feature. We do not receive the contents of files transferred over Nearby.

Communications

  • Messages you send to our support, bug report, or feature request email addresses.
  • One-time passcodes sent for sign-in, email changes, or account deletion verification.

Information We Do Not Collect

Watchly is designed as a personal media player, not a hosting service. We do not upload, store, or transcode your video files on OrbitX servers.

We do not collect precise location data, contacts, calendars, health data, or browsing history outside the Service.

We do not use third-party advertising networks, and we do not sell personal information to data brokers.

On iOS, we may request App Tracking Transparency permission. Watchly's core sync and account features do not depend on cross-app tracking. If you decline tracking, the Service continues to work.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including playback, sync, search, and cross-device features.
  • Authenticate you, secure your account, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
  • Process subscriptions, free trials, Family Sharing eligibility, and device limits for Watchly PRO.
  • Display metadata and artwork for titles in your library through TMDB and similar public databases.
  • Analyze product usage with first-party analytics (for example, paywall events and feature usage) to improve reliability and design.
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights and safety of users and OrbitX.
  • Send service-related communications such as sign-in codes, security alerts, and account notices.

How We Share Information

We share information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

  • Supabase — authentication, database hosting, and real-time sync.
  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery for watchly.orbitx.studio.
  • Apple — sign-in, in-app purchases, subscription management, and Family Sharing.
  • Google — optional Google Sign-In and Google Drive access when you connect those features.

Metadata and connected services you choose

  • TMDB — public movie and TV metadata and artwork lookups based on titles in your library.
  • Plex, Jellyfin, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, and other providers you connect — only to access the sources you authorize, subject to their own privacy policies.

Legal and safety

  • We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.

Business transfers

  • If OrbitX is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account and synced library data — retained while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account, subject to brief backup retention.
  • Subscription records — retained as needed for billing history, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
  • Support correspondence — retained as needed to resolve your request and improve support quality.
  • Analytics events — retained in aggregated or pseudonymous form for product improvement, then deleted or anonymized according to our internal schedules.
  • Security logs — retained for a limited period to investigate abuse and protect the Service.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and secure credential storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for protecting the devices and networks where your media is stored, and for keeping your account credentials confidential.

Your Rights and Choices

To exercise your rights, contact support.watchly@orbitx.studio. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

  • Access and portability — request a copy of personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction — update your profile in the app or ask us to correct inaccurate account data.
  • Deletion — delete your account in Settings on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or by emailing us.
  • Restriction and objection — ask us to limit certain processing where applicable law provides these rights.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • Marketing — if we send optional marketing emails in the future, you may opt out using the unsubscribe link in those messages.

Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your Watchly account from the app:

  • iPhone / iPad — Settings → Account → Delete Account.
  • Mac — Settings → Account → Delete Account.
  • Web — contact us if you need help deleting an account created only on the website.

What happens when you delete

Account deletion requires email verification via one-time passcode. When deletion completes, we remove your profile, synced library data, linked service credentials, device activations, preferences, and associated analytics tied to your account from our active systems.

Some information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period, or where retention is required by law, fraud prevention, or completed Apple subscription records.

Deleting your account does not cancel an active Apple subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions at https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

Children's Privacy

Watchly is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Data Transfers

Watchly is operated globally. Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including where our service providers maintain facilities. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion or correction, and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under California law.

Submit requests to support.watchly@orbitx.studio. We will verify your request as required by law.

EEA and UK Residents

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We encourage you to contact us first so we can address your concern.

Cookies and Web Technologies

Our website uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and protect your session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

We use first-party, cookieless web analytics (Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate page traffic and improve the site. This does not rely on advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using signed-in web features.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.

Your continued use of Watchly after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
